I had the great opportunity to be a part of a photography project for Southern Teal "Hitting Cancer Below the Belt" a few weeks ago. I photographed twelve strong, beautiful women and their "battle buddies". These photographs will be used in a calendar that can be purchased very soon to raise funds to continue to spread awareness about gynecological cancers and to provide support for those whose lives are impacted by this form of cancer. Early detection of the five types of gynecological cancers is so important in the treatment provided.
These women's stories are amazing, their strength is admirable, and their spirit's are strong. They teach us that those we choose to surround ourselves with are imperative in our ability to stay focused, strong, and healthy. And, these women have chosen well.
My hope is that in these photos you will "see" the story of each woman currently on this journey of "Hitting Cancer Below the Belt" and be inspired by their incredible display of joy in the midst of a great challenge . Sons, daughters, husbands, wives, cousins, work friends, childhood friends, neighbors, moms, dads, and pets are all represented in these photos as folks that provide tremendous support to the calendar girls. The lesson we learn from these women is easy to catch through these photos. Relationships are important. We were not meant to walk through this life alone.
I'll keep you posted as to when you can join in this endeavor of awareness and support by purchasing a Southern Teal Calendar.
Fall Mini Sessions have proven to be a special time to meet new friends, visit with old friends, and capture great moments for these folks to share and remember for years to come.
With every family, there comes a story -a journey to share. And, I love a story!
Stories of overcoming sickness, family loss, the birth of babies, adoption, business successes, business failures, new jobs, retired life, travel, transitions to college life, adjusting to becoming empty nesters, some new to being grandparents, smiles, smiles, and so much more have been shared at these sessions. I have truly enjoyed these times of sharing and creating beautiful photographs to document- to remember -to cherish for many years to come.
This is what I love about my work- the stories, the people!
"I see you, and I hear you", words spoken to me often by my husband. It is my genuine hope and prayer that when you choose me to photograph your family you feel the same way I do when he speaks these words to me - Wonderfully Important!
Check out CHS Senior AC- She is a beautiful girl with a big heart!
